Do I need therapy for anxiety or depression?

You may have heard of anxiety and depression and more than likely been affected by it at some point in your lives or know someone that has. During therapy sessions we look at the impact on our mind, body and spirit and how we can manage this better with healthy coping skills. In therapy we explore our triggers and the emotions behind the anxiety and depression and how we have developed coping skills which are no longer effective. By challenging our blocks to healthy coping skills we can find ways to overcome them and learn new methods that are more effective for us now.

Anxiety

Anxiety is something different for everyone. Sometimes we do not realise we are anxious. It could be the constant worrying, feelings of nervousness, increased heart rate or over analysing situations and wanting to control the outcome. These feelings and behaviours can become overwhelming and disrupt your daily life.

Depression

Just like anxiety depression can present itself in many ways. It usually involves numbing out or extremely low feelings usually low in energy and can include avoiding behaviours.

What helps?

It’s important to start recognising what helps you. Calling a friend, going for a walk, regular exercise, music or just having a cup of tea. Keeping regular routines to manage your self-care can help make anxiety and depression manageable.
