Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the sessions?

One-to-one counselling sessions last 50 minutes and most clients book on a weekly basis allowing for consistency and to help maintain focus on challenges you may be working through.

How many sessions will I need?

This is something we can discuss at your initial meeting with me. It is recommended you allow for at least 6 sessions to give yourself some time to build a relationship with me and begin working through the problems or issues that have brought you to counselling.

Are appointment times flexible?

I understand clients may have varying work patterns which can make it challenging to get to counselling. I can offer some flexibility around appointment times and we can discuss this together.

How do you work?

I have a user-centred approach, which means I work with the client and use various creative methods that works for clients to help explore and access blocked emotions and process past trauma. There are usually two parts to the counselling process:

  1. Build safety in the here and now and work on managing triggers and helping ground the client.

  2. The second part is to use various methods that are appropriate for the client of exposure therapy and inner child work to help process past experiences and unlearn any unhealthy coping mechanisms and ways of relating we may have developed. This should help clients to be able to move forward with tools that will help them going forwards.

What are your qualifications?

Do you offer telephone or online sessions?

I offer face to face, telephone and online sessions and am based in Uxbridge, West London.

Although a face to face session is the traditional style of counselling I work with many international and local clients where distance or work commitments means the face to face sessions are just not suitable. Clients that have moved to telephone or online (Skype, Zoom, Whats app) have found them just as beneficial and feel they have been able to continue therapy at the same level as the sessions in person.

Are you supervised?

I have a supervisor to help me ethically manage and process my work with clients. I attend regular group supervision sessions also.

What languages do you work in?

I run sessions usually in English and have delivered many session in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. I am fluent in these languages and can deliver sessions face-to-face or online.

I am experienced with working with interpreters. I deliver sessions with an interpreter present, when required for various community referrals and group programmes.
