How will therapy help me?

Therapy can help you become aware of the patterns of how you relate to other people, what triggers different reactions in you? and what will help you to manage them better?You can learn how to manage your anxiety and depression in personal therapy as your experience and triggers would be completely individual for you.

Can’t I just talk to my friends?

To have a therapist support you to reflect and recognise any challenges you need to overcome? What will strengthen and empower you to integrate changes that can have a positive long term impact on you managing your feelings on a daily basis can be life changing. The process of therapy is not always easy as you may talk about and bring into awareness uncomfortable experiences and emotions that you may have avoided for a long time. This may have been what you needed at the time. The therapist is there to support and facilitate the process of accessing those blocked or uncomfortable feelings. The therapist can keep you focused on you. The old coping mechanism may no longer be working for you and you may now be ready to work through and process the past so you can move forward without carrying all that emotional baggage.
